An AI image generator creates pictures from a written description. You type what you want to see, and it produces new images in seconds.

Most image generators use diffusion models that have learned from millions of captioned images. Popular examples include Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, OpenAI’s image models in ChatGPT (DALL·E) and Google’s Imagen.
Better prompts describe the subject, setting, style, lighting and composition. Many tools also let you edit parts of an image with inpainting or exclude things with a negative prompt. Rules on copyright and commercial use vary by tool.
