Common techniques include giving the AI a role (role prompting), showing examples (few-shot prompting), asking it to work step by step (chain-of-thought), splitting big jobs into smaller prompts (prompt chaining) and stating exactly what format you want.

As models improve, clever tricks matter less and clear communication matters more. For apps, the focus is shifting toward context engineering: giving the model the right information.
