Role prompting
Role prompting tells the AI to answer as a particular person or expert, such as “Act as a careers coach”, to shape its tone, focus and detail.
Also called persona prompting, act as prompt
In more detail
A role gives the model useful context about who the answer is for and what matters. It works best combined with specifics about your situation and goal.
A role doesn’t give the model real expertise or credentials, so treat “expert” advice on health, money or law with care.
Example
“Act as a patient maths tutor. Explain fractions to a 10-year-old using pizza.”
