Few-shot prompting
Few-shot prompting means including a few worked examples in your prompt so the AI copies the pattern, format or style you want.
Also called one-shot prompting, multi-shot prompting, few-shot learning
In more detail
Examples are often clearer than descriptions. Showing two or three input-and-answer pairs tells the model exactly what a good answer looks like. With a single example it is called one-shot prompting.
Pick examples that are varied and correct, because the model will follow them closely, mistakes included.
Example
“Turn product names into slugs. ‘Blue Running Shoes’ → blue-running-shoes. ‘Kids’ Rain Jacket’ → kids-rain-jacket. ‘Leather Office Chair’ →”
