Zero-shot prompting
Zero-shot prompting means asking an AI to do a task without giving it any examples, relying only on your instructions.
Also called zero-shot learning
In more detail
Modern large language models are good at zero-shot tasks because they have seen so many kinds of text. It is the way most people use chatbots day to day.
If results are inconsistent, adding one or more examples usually helps (see few-shot prompting).
Example
“Classify this review as positive or negative: ‘The battery died after two days.’”
