Facial recognition
Facial recognition is AI that identifies or verifies a person by comparing their face with stored images.
Also called face recognition
In more detail
It works by measuring features of a face and turning them into a numerical pattern, then matching that pattern against others. Phone unlock systems compare your face with one stored template; surveillance systems may search large databases.
Facial recognition raises serious privacy and bias concerns, since accuracy can differ across groups of people, and several places regulate how it can be used.
Example
Unlocking your phone with your face, or passport gates at an airport.
