AI watermarking
AI watermarking marks content as AI-generated, using visible labels or hidden signals, so people and platforms can tell where it came from.
Also called content credentials, C2PA, SynthID
In more detail
Some marks are visible logos; others are invisible patterns built into the pixels, audio or text, such as Google’s SynthID. Content credentials, based on the C2PA standard, attach a record of how a file was made.
Watermarks can be lost when content is edited or re-recorded, so they are one signal among several, not proof.
