Natural language processing (NLP)
Natural language processing (NLP) is the branch of AI that helps computers understand, interpret and produce human language.

NLP covers any task that involves words: translation, summarising, answering questions, checking grammar, sentiment analysis and turning speech into text.
Older NLP relied on grammar rules and statistics. Most modern NLP uses large language models built on the transformer design.
Example
Translation apps, email spam filters, grammar checkers and voice assistants all rely on NLP.
