Artificial general intelligence (AGI)
Artificial general intelligence (AGI) is a hypothetical AI that could learn and reason across almost any task as well as a person can.
Also called general AI, strong AI
In more detail
AGI doesn’t exist yet, and there is no agreed definition or test for it. Some AI companies say building AGI is their goal; researchers disagree on whether it is near, far away, or possible at all.
The term is useful mainly as a contrast with today’s narrow AI. An even more powerful hypothetical system is called artificial superintelligence.
