Federated learning
Federated learning trains an AI model across many devices, such as phones, without collecting their data in one place. Only model updates are shared.
In more detail
Each device improves a copy of the model using its own data, then sends back the changes, not the data itself. The changes are combined into a better shared model.
It helps protect privacy, for example when improving keyboard suggestions from what people type.
